The primary purpose of the Production Worker is to perform various practical skills to assemble or produce a finished product based upon the customers specifications or needs within a specified piece rate. Examples of such practical skills, but not limited to, are lifting, counting, sorting, picking, kitting, labeling, folding, measuring, visually inspecting and comparing, and cleaning.
Production Worker Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The ability to work on a team of assemblers in close proximity to each other and accomplish the task or job to its specifications
- Follow written and verbal communications in order replicate or produce a quality product
- Follow all safety requirements
- Learn and follow all business policies, procedures, instructions, and training guidelines
- Meet quality, performance standards set by management on a consistent basis
- Communicates directly to the supervisory team regarding any potential challenges that may hinder the ability to perform a specific duty or task
- Assures all jobs are completed to the customer requirements, specifications, and expectations
- Assist with setting up production lines as instructed and maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Accurately complete job/time sheets
- Utilize the inventory management system and other tools to locate and maintain accuracy of material with the warehouse or bay as directed
- Help other workers when trained or authorized to do so
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Production Worker Requirements:
- Possess the ability to perform basic reading and math skills
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Have ability to multi-task, Problem Solve and Improvise within guidelines
- Understands and Follow all safety standards
- Understanding of basic level business acumen
- Processing domestic parcel and freight shipments
- Physical movement of product freight shipments both manually and with product moving equipment
- Move with coordination and dexterity
- Possess the manual dexterity needed to use hand tools
- Work seated, standing or even sometime awkward positions as required
- Have good eyesight (corrective lenses permitted)
- Lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis; lift up and over repeatedly
Production Worker Experience required:
- At least 1 year in a high-volume production environment within the packaging industry
- Proficiency with computers and keyboard entry
- Forklift certification (a bonus)
- Data entry, reporting and reconciliation of data in necessary software/systems
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Work with warehouse environment for long hours on concrete floors
- Able, willing, and medically cleared (as required) to wear required personal protective equipment as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats and other PPE
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Able to physically work utilizing both hands simultaneously, carrying various parts, etc. Other physical activities include standing for extended periods of time, pushing, pulling, bending into sometimes into awkward positions
